Are the elections rigged? plausible, we basically have two choices and rigging the election in 2004 was done without much complaint.
Living in a police state, the judicial system bent in favor of the state and living in constant fear for not obeying orders. The police is militarized and we have the largest prison population in the history of mankind. Unjust laws and court rulings currently exist, loop holes exist for the wealthy and powerful. As for obeying orders, I have seen innocent teenagers get harassed for no good reason.
Innovations in solar technology has made oil obsolete, but since they is money involved we haven’t made the switch.
Propaganda was broken down by a few teachers and textbooks (Media and culture 7 is an easy to understand source, I also recommend art theory). Media is largely there to serve as a distraction. In case the distraction doesn’t work news is full of advertorials, half truths, and flat out lies. The open internet is an exception, because everyone has access and anyone can post content. The media doesn’t like this, because major media, government and corporations are all connected to many of the same people. Media and culture doesn’t make this connection, but it will breaks down who owns all media and shows it is limited to only a few corporations. In case you didn’t know, this is why the open internet is so important to protect, so information is in the hands of the masses.
I knew many people involved in Occupy and many were beaten and jailed for peaceful non-violent protesting.
